The problem
Music has become a way of life, part of a person’s personality. Each person has a musical taste and style. While one is alone wearing headphones and chooses what to listen to, there is no issue. But in a small social gathering, on a road trip or game night, often one person plugs in their playlist from their smartphone, and is probably the same playlist play every time; Regardless of the preferences of those present.
User scenario
You’re on a road trip with your family.
It’s your little sister’s turn to choose the music.
She opens Spotify.
No surprises here, it’s the playlist of her favorite songs, a weird mix of the current hits and Disney songs. Again.
When you roll your eyes she argues that when it was your turn, on the last trip, she sat “quietly” while you played your boring country songs.
When mom asks If you can’t find something we all like, you both answer sarcastically -Yeah right!

Research
There are hundreds of apps that streams music of all kinds (Spotify, YouTube, Apple Music, Amazon Music, etc.) I wanted to focus on the experience of listening to music with others, so I conducted an online survey.
I’ve discovered several interesting findings that were key points in the app design process:
User flow
One user opens a Hive and becomes a “Queen Bee” – all other users connect to this Hive.
The Hive will sync between all the songs you and your friends chose to share from Spotify, and now you can all listen to your favorite music together.
